Fruit and vegetables

This is a continuously evolving sector, considering the great diversity of products needing handling. Over time, Impar developed and refined various conservation techniques which nowadays have evolved into "precision" refrigerating stores, with excellent final conservation data that translate into a highly competitive "product quality" at European level, with obvious relative economic returns for the Client.

APPLES:

Apples can be preserved at length if kept at a low temperature and in a controlled atmosphere, according to variety.

U.R. % Conservation Period Weight loss %
0 / +2 °C 90 / 95 6 - 10 Months 0 - 2

PEARS:

Pears can be maintained at length if kept at a low temperature and in a controlled atmosphere, according to variety.

U.R. % Conservation Period Weight loss %
-1 / 0 °C 90 / 95 4 - 8 Months 2 - 3

KIWI:

Kiwis can be maintained at length if kept at a low temperature and in a controlled atmosphere, and with particular attention being paid to the control of ethylene during the conservation period.

U.R. % Conservation Period Weight loss %
-0,5 / 0,5 °C 90 / 95 3 - 6 Months 2 - 3

STRAWBERRIES:

The fruits:
Strawberries are collected and placed in specific plants called “Blast-chilling Tunnels” that lower their temperature in 1 – 1.5 hours per cycle.

The plants:
Plants are pre-cooled and preserved in cells at -2 °C.

U.R. % Conservation Period Weight loss %
3 / 4 °C 90 5 - 6 Days 2 - 3

TABLE GRAPES:

Freshly eaten:

Grapes destined for immediate consumption are collected and placed in specific structures called “Blast Chilling Tunnels” that drop the temperature down to 6 °C in 2 – 3 hours per cycle.

Conservation in controlled atmosphere:

Grapes destined for conservation get stored in controlled atmosphere cells, equipped with SO2 treatment apparatus.

U.R. % Conservation Period Weight loss %
0 °C 90 - 95 4 Months -

GARLIC:

Garlic keeps for a long time if preserved at a low temperature, according to variety.

U.R. % Conservation Period Weight loss %
-3 / -4 °C 65 / 70 10 - 12 Months 6 - 8

RADICCHIO (RED CHICORY):

Radicchio can be kept at length if preserved at a low temperature and in a controlled atmosphere, depending on the variety.

U.R. % Conservation Period Weight loss %
0 / 2 °C 90 2 - 4 Months -

POTATOES:

Potatoes can be maintained at length if preserved at a medium temperature, depending on the variety.

U.R. % Conservation Period Weight Loss %
+6 / +8 °C 90 / 95 6 - 8 Months 2 - 3

ONIONS:

Onions can be maintained at length if preserved at a low temperature, depending on the variety.

U.R. % Conservation Period Weight Loss %
0 / +1 °C 65 / 70 4 - 8 Months 4 - 5

FRUIT TREES (nursery):

U.R. % Conservation Period Weight Loss %
0 / +5 °C 95 / 98 5 - 6 Months -
